Millette commits to Moncton

Before debuting in the BCHL in 2016-17, Quebec-born forward Vincent Millette played his youth hockey exclusively in French-speaking parts of the country. After three years out west, he will have a chance to dust off his French as he has committed to the University of Moncton Aigles Bleus for the 2019-20 season.

Millette, who is from Blainville, Que., played two seasons for the Nanaimo Clippers before finishing his career as Cowichan’s captain last season. The 21-year-old played in 130 career regular-season games in the BCHL, finishing with 58 points. He also added another 23 games in the playoffs, including his deepest run in the postseason this past season when he helped the Capitals, the lowest seed in the playoffs, upset the Interior Division champion Penticton Vees in six games in the first round.

Moncton is a Canadian USports program playing out of the Atlantic University Sports (AUS) conference, competing against Acadia, Dalhousie, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Saint Mary’s and St. Francis Xavier.

In 2018-19, les Aigles Bleus finished fifth in the conference with a record of 14-12-4 and lost to PEI in the AUS quarterfinals. Their roster last year did not feature any BCHL alums.

Millette is the only BCHL player currently committed to Moncton, but is the fourth to commit to a USports program, joining Brendan Harrogate of the Penticton Vees and Kurtis Chapman and Cole Noble of the Victoria Grizzlies.
